What is the inside of a computer mouse and what parts does a pepper mill consist of?
The images reveal the inner workings of consumer goods and visualise their beauty and quality - or lack thereof. The disassembly of everyday objects is revealing of our consumer society. Were these objects designed to be repaired in the event of a defect and to give their users many years of pleasure, or were they designed to be thrown away and replaced after a short life?
This work is also a tribute to human creativity, whose uniqueness is being challenged by the advent of artificial intelligence (AI), and to curiosity, perhaps one of the last human talents not (yet) under pressure from AI.
