Qualia
"Mum, you look strange with that snail on your face"
Sensory experiences have distinctive subjective qualities before being connected to meaning or external reference, i.e. the sting of a needle or the smell of the sea. The term Qualia (Lat. qualis ‘of what sort') is used to describe properties of experiences in resp. to manner, colour, sound, smell, action, state or intensity. (sense data)
