Changing environment from my structured life in Switzerland to the vibrant centre of Barcelona facilitated my first photographs. After experimenting with different materials, colours and body parts I selected red pigment on skin to take ambiguous photos.
Being overwhelmed by my intense feelings during this time I oscillated between extremes including sexual desire, shame, losing my self-control and adapting to social rules. Life was gaining depth. The intensity of the photos reflects my inner state.
Part of this series was taken in Iran. There I was feeling well understood in my diverse emotions. Society is forced to life between extremes - their well-controlled public life and their proportionally free private life. My own discrepancies were intensified during my stay, and this was an important experience to capture those photos.
