Facing the darkness
“You don't find light by avoiding the darkness.” This was my approach in this series, I tried to find and emphasize light in the dark spaces. Light and dark, and so black and white, symbolise good and evil. Therefore, this was also a personal search for light, deciding to face the darkness that everybody bears and often avoids to deal with it. It has been almost a cathartic process to show that the beauty can reside and be found even in the gloomiest places. Furthermore, I find that a silhouette, a shadow or few enlightened elements of a body can be more significant than seeing everything clearly and distinctly, since life is unclear and ambiguous, a mix of dark and bright zones. As a result, I do believe that the light, and so the good, is more powerful and meaningful right in the darkest places.
