Plastic is everywhere, in bottles, packaging and many, many other everyday objects. Yet, not all plastics are created equal. Plastics are a large family of different materials, each with its own properties, applications, and health and environmental impacts. Polyethylene and Polypropylene are the two most commonly produced and used types of plastic. They carry the Resin Identification Codes 2 (High Density Polyethylene), 4 (Low Density Polyethylene), and 5 (Polypropylene).
The images are part of the series "Living in the Age of Plastic", which aims to compile an overview of the types of plastic ubiquitous in our lives, to create a visual world that expands our verbal notion of plastics, and to provide information to support consumer decisions.
