Literally «without makeup», the «Ungeschminkt» photo series is an interpretation of a minimalistic and abstract tête-à-tête with the modern architecture of the twelve districts of Zurich.
The «Ungeschminkt» project is a photographic work that presents a set of 144 photographs. A series of 12 images is devoted to each district and highlights the plasticity of architectural works, intimately linked to external factors such as space and time. Strict materiality thus generates an artistic immateriality, each shot offers a unique micro-state, making its observer a privileged witness.
To complete his vision, Ben Moreau proposes an inedit work that he names « Disabtraction ». At the crossroads between photography and sculpture, this «mise en abîme» uses an element of the abstract subject in order to support the photograph itself and creates an extension towards the tangible world. By this «disabstraction» process, the subject is self-supported and introduces a new level of abstraction by creating a total work.
