6 Portraits
The project shows 6 portraits of former US-president Donald J. Trump, in various shapes and disguises, dressed as a bottle opener or a dog‘s toy.
Taken during the course of his presidency in places like Amsterdam, Munich, New York or Washington DC these photographs depict merchandising that’s reminiscent of real Pop Stars in the field of music, the Arts or Film.
The images speak about the current state of postmodern popular culture, where anything can create attention as far as it has media value and / or can serve in terms of entertainment purposes - regardless of ethical, moral or artistic merit.
The title of the project mirrors both ubiquitous yet vapid pop culture and the state of affairs regarding manufacturing - China serving as a symbolical substitute for co-dependancy on the dissemination (either through production or media).
